A Balanced Life is a Conscious, Holistic Creation

Balance can be achieved in many ways, but at its core, it is a personal journey.  Through my work in a holistic wellness clinic, I found that a balanced life was an individualized experience for each of my patients. It was always a deeply personal journey. At the core of each individual’s experience, fundamental aspects of a balanced life came to light. By talking with patients, I discovered that those who felt the greatest sense of balance were those individuals who had control over the following three fundamental aspects of life:

    1. Health
    2. Relationships
    3. Finances

Find Yourself By Losing Track of Time

October in 2019, I took a trip to New Orleans. It was some much needed time off from a busy and stressful job. A few days into the trip, I found myself becoming carefree and feeling more deeply relaxed than I had been in a long while. In fact, I didn’t realize how exhausted I had been until I wasn’t. I walked around and explored all day, stopping whenever I wanted to eat something or chase down what interested me. I let the languid pace of that humid city pull me into its dance, and I lost track of time. I remember thinking how much I really needed to re-evaluate how I was living and take some serious time “off” from whatever pace I was keeping while I was “on,” and yet how unlikely it seemed that I would ever have the time for such a thing.

Daily Mindfulness and Meditation to Cope with Stresses of Daily Life

What does it mean to be ‘mindful’? How do you know if you’re actually meditating? Daily mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and all kinds of practices are becoming more popular as many struggle with the stresses of daily life.

There are lots of excellent resources online for anyone who would like to learn how to meditate, which is just a word to describe the use of a practice or technique to focus or train the mind to achieve various positive outcomes. Everything from better attention to increased ability to solve problems and increased awareness and peace of mind are all proven benefits. Meditation and/or daily mindfulness is also a spiritual practice for many who utilize it. See the studies below.

Heal the Soul with 9 Tips for Self-Care

Nowadays, when people hear the word self-care, they think massages and pampering, wine on a Wednesday or a walk in the park. Those are all well and good but don’t address the underlying notions of why you should spend time alone. The goal of self-care isn’t to have some “you time,” it’s to help heal the parts of you that feel broken or worn down.

As humans, we all get caught up in what I call our “doingness.” We are constantly in a state of motion and having to fill every gap of time and space. I used to be that person, too. The one who had to watch tv, scroll on social media, hit the movies, or take a power walk somewhere listening to music. I would waste hours online and make countless attempts to fill a void, a longing, or a need for attention.

Learn to Trust your Intuition

In Inner Bonding, we often talk about who is in charge – your wounded self or your guidance. Most people are enslaved by the thoughts and beliefs of their wounded self – their programmed mind. But the mind is meant to be the servant of our inner and higher guidance, not the master. Why do we too often throw away the gift of intuition – of our inner knowing?

Intuition is a sacred gift, the rational mind its faithful servant. Sadly, we have thrown away the gift and have become enslaved to the servant. – Albert Einstein

Double Your Energy With One Simple Solution

If you are a busy professional struggling to balance work and family, and you want to have energy at the end of the day…I can relate. When you work forty plus hours a week, not much time or energy remains for other enriching activities. The most accessible options for relaxation are sitting on the couch and watching TV or getting to bed early to make up for those missed hours. This all too common pattern results in a decline in your quality of life.

10 Ways the Universe Sends You Messages

Okay, let’s be honest here. How many times have you stopped to ponder for just one second if the Universe was actually trying to send you a message? You get goosebumps. You hear a song on the radio that instantly reminds you of someone you love or who has passed away. Or perhaps, you pause for a second and wonder if that “coincidence” which just happened was actually not a random occurrence at all.
